Our Curriculum:

  • We are a play-based program with a focus on play with purpose. We believe that young children need long chunks of uninterrupted time to play in an environment that offers a rich array of materials and experiences. Our teachers focus their planning on adjusting the environment to support the individual level of growth and interest of the children in our care.

  • We support children in exploring their world and developing their natural curiosity, creativity and desire to learn. The children we care for receive the individual attention they need to reach their full potential, at their own pace.

  • We are proud participants in the State of Indiana's voluntary childcare quality rating program Paths to QUALITY. The State has recognized that we continuously develop skills and knowledge, create a safe and healthy place for children to grow, and believe in providing better childcare for brighter futures.

  • We view the home as an extension of the school and the school as an extension of the home. Parental participation is welcome and encouraged. Let us join you in developing your child's potential.

Infants & Toddlers

The basis of our infant and toddler care model stems from providing a loving and safe environment. We believe that children need continuity of care, and so our program is designed for children to remain with the same caregiver until they move into the Pre K room. This provides the consistency and bonding our youngest children need to thrive outside of the home.

Our philosophy is also based in showing respect to the youngest in our care. Maintaining low student to teacher ratios, and providing space and materials that are appropriate for the development of infants and toddlers allows us to support each child in his or her own developmental path. Children at BCGC receive individualized attention aimed at supporting their learning and growth. We teach basic sign language so that children who are preverbal are able to communicate.

This is a full immersion program, in which the children are spoken to by all of their caregivers in Spanish.

The infant schedule for feeding and sleeping is based on each child's individual rhythm.

**Children go through many changes during these years and their needs and schedules are constantly changing. Our belief is that we best serve the children in our care through meeting their individual needs as they grow and develop, as opposed to trying to have them conform to our schedule. The above are guidelines that we use, but are adapted daily for each child as needed.
